Tbh no that good place for afternoon?im there when the time is 5pm,and I wrote the sign for Bristol or Exeter, a lot cars pass by there but not stopping (it’s but hard)but luckily a lady pick me to the half way in Swindon,and I got another car after 30mins come to Bristol.its maybe a good place for morning hitchhiking,it was Sunday

Nobody picked me up after a hour,but some some people ask me if I need money haha.heres a parking place which is good ,I wanna take the ride to Bristol or Exeter but obviously it’s not work

Not a good spot at all. I wanted to go to Paignton via Newton Abbot, since this is the closest stop of the Falcon bus from Bristol Airport. There is very little pavement in any direction, absolutely nowhere for cars to pull over, the curve of the road leaves little visibility when cars are moving slow enough and once they exit the roundabout they accelerate too fast to consider stopping further down the road where there is better visibility. I quickly went back to the bus stop on the roundabout itself since that is the only place cars can stop safely and there is a traffic light just beyond so they have time to consider you. The bus stop is rather limited for cars going in the direction you want: nothing to or from Newton Abbot, cars going to Plymouth from Newton Abbot or Bovey Tracey, or cars going to Bovey Tracey from Exeter. I used the stop to get me out of there ASAP, and was very lucky one of the first cars to pass offered me a lift first to Totnes and then all the way to Paignton.

We wanted to head to exeter. Really busy in summer. Very easy to find rides, most of them heading to cornwall

If you need to get out of exmouth, great road heading only one way to exeter. We were dropped at exeter services

It took a while to find someone, but at the end I asked someone who was filling his tank, going to Exeter.

Most people go to the ring road, but at the end i found someone who went to Exeter.

Got a lift from here all the way to Exeter!

avoid Exeter Services

Best to have a sign indicating EITHER Plymouth (A38) or Bude / Okehampton (A30) and do NOT accept a lift to Exeter services unless you want Exeter

Direction South: No shoulder and dense traffic at this roundabout, the only solution is to try with the cars that are stopped at the red light (Exeter Services is not a good option)

Direction Honiton (Exeter Airport): Not the best spot as there is no shoulder but the road is large enough for a car willing to stop

It is best to not go too near the motorway roundabout as the road becomes more narrowed with the impossibility for a car to stop, a ride to Exeter should be easily caught

Bus stop lay-by - no covered shelter. Between traffic lights and pelican crossing. Next to supermarket. Traffic heading from Exeter city center west (A30 - Okehampton, Launceston, Bodmin) and (probably) south (A38 - Plymouth; A380 - Newton Abbot, Totnes). All good for Cornwall.
